Mongolian Beef

INGREDIENTS:
1 tablespoon corn starch
2 tablespoons oil, such as avocado oil or extra virgin olive oil
1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon chopped garlic
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
2 green onions, chopped
 
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Add the beef to a bowl and toss together with the corn starch until evenly coated.
In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, sesame oil and red pepper flakes. Set aside.
2. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the beef into the skillet and sear on both sides until golden brown, about a couple minutes per side. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
3. Pour the sauce into the skillet and deglaze the pan. Allow the sauce to simmer and thicken for a a couple minutes.
4. Add the beef back into the sauce, toss to coat and allow to simmer for 2-3 minutes more or until the sauce has thickened a bit more and the beef is completely coated. Remove from the heat and stir in the chopped green onion. Serve over rice or noodles and enjoy!
